A Pause to Appreciate the Finer Things
When I was in High School, I used to check out this book of poetry by Henry W. Longfellow. A matter of fact, I was the only one that ever checked it out. So, I made a deal with the librarian. She agreed that if no one checked that book out (beside me) for the next school year, I could have it when I graduated. Well, I waited a long year. Finally graduation came and I went to claim my well earned book. To my surprise, the librarian held up her end of the bargain, tore the card sleeve out of the back and handed me the book with a smile. It is now over 10 years later and I still pull this book off the shelf now and again and drink deep.
Today, I want to share a short, but meaningful little ditty from Henry Longfellow named, "The Arrow and the Song". Below I have included a scan of the book page in order to give you the ‘feel’ of the old book as well as the ability to read the notes Longfellow wrote about this poem.
